Focus on Case Studies and Projects The NEN has published numerous case studies and projects which reflect best practice, an edited sample of which are highlighted. All case studies can be accessed on the members web site or in hard copy and are circulated to members on a termly basis. Secondary - A2B Enterprise Easter School An enterprising approach to vocational education The Doncaster Earth Centre provided an ideal venue for Doncaster’s ‘Year 10 Able and Talented A2B students to take part in a Vocational Education Easter School. Students from across Doncaster volunteered to spend three days holiday working alongside business advisors to solve a range of enterprising problems. Secondary - St Enterprise A unique whole school approach to enterprise St Bartholomew's Business and Enterprise College, Newbury is a centre of excellence, providing a whole school approach to the promotion of best practice in enterprise learning. St Bart’s define enterprise education as the provision of learning opportunities that help students develop the attitude, knowledge and skills of the entrepreneur. The enterprising individual both initiates and thrives on change. Enterprise education enables students to develop confidence, self-reliance and determination to succeed. These abilities will benefit the individual in their future lives as entrepreneurs, employees and citizens of the global community. Primary - A Day in the Life of a Monk The economic life of Monks The linking of economic and business understanding to the Key Stage 2 History curriculum. The project linked St Matthews CE Primary (Bradford) with Markington CE Primary (Ripon) in a joint history project that led the pupils into the design and production of a game based on the daily economic life of Monks. Project Business Ambassadors An extension project for Gifted and Talented students The project involved students creating their own holiday company. By researching the tourist industry they had to provide complete and costed range of holidays to a specified destination. The project culminated in the students presenting their ideas to the Czech Tourist Board in Prague. |
